Manager, Company Matters Exeter Monday - Friday £ Competitive + benefits Lead on the delivery of company secretarial services to a high-profile, listed client base. Our award-winning company secretarial business – Company Matters, is one of the largest company secretarial providers in the UK and is well-known for its expertise in corporate governance advisory services and company secretarial administration. We support domestic and international clients with all aspects of their company secretarial and governance needs and have a long-standing reputation of providing class-leading services to UK listed businesses. Our specialism is supporting companies through IPOs and working with Investment Trusts. The role of Manager, within Company Matters, is to lead a team of qualified and part-qualified company secretaries, ensuring client contracts are fulfilled to a high standard and within our commercial framework and ensuring team members are developed and remain engaged with the strategic aims of the Business. What you’ll be doing: Apply management and business skills in working with clients and/or in own function Allocation of workflows, day to day HR functions, performance management process and facilitation of personal and professional development Work with Assistant Managers to ensure that team workflows are undertaken at the appropriate level and in accordance with internal quality controls Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with prescribed policy and procedures, legal/regulatory requirements, service levels and company standards Monitor time spent on client contracts by individuals and the team to ensure that profit margins are maintained Direct provision of senior company secretarial services to complex and high-profile external clients, including board facing and advisory responsibilities Support and lead business development activities, with support, including leading meetings with potential clients, where appropriate and the preparation of proposals and quotations   Lead internal and external technical initiatives and events, e.g. training sessions, webinars, articles - building internal and external networks to promote our service offering and raise our team profile Influence within department and, where appropriate, the wider business area. Where client facing, influence clients Legal & regulatory: achieve and maintain a strong understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements Clearly convey key messages, facilitate open two-way conversation, actively listen and take feedback into consideration What we’re looking for: Associate or Fellow of Chartered Governance Institute Significant company secretarial experience, including solid listed and board facing experience Extensive knowledge of UK company law, regulation, and best practice Past experience of direct line management responsibilities, focusing in particular on the personal and professional development and progression of team members Experience of managing diverse and ambitious team members Strong commercial awareness and aptitude for business development Ability to think strategically and eagerness to contribute to a dynamic management team Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience within a professional services environment Experience within a client facing role.
